2008 was the year when « Aventura Parc » really took off. We confirmed the positive trends of the precedent year. We succeeded in attracting schools, kindergartens, and companies. Tens of parties were held in the facility, most of them team building events. We invested the money buying an above-ground swimming pool, a must-have attraction considering the high temperatures we had back at this time 😉
This blog is about constantly (re)inventing yourself in order to live a happier life, just in case I forgot it 🙂 I am so lucky to have a kind of rollercoaster existence, but anything has its price.
And so for a couple of weeks until now I was rather sad, depressed, trying to figure out what to create furthermore, as I am a kind of “jobless” in Martinique right now. I worked a little bit as a tourist guide for cruises, and then thought about writing novels and e-books.
Being without any regular job does not mean that I am without any professional activity, as I am learning a large amount of new things and growing my “employability”. I am constantly trying new concepts and tools, sometimes without purpose: this is my personal “research & development” effort. It helped me greatly to build our home, to found “Aventura Parc” with my wife, to create websites, and so on. Internet is full of open information about anything, and practically you do not have an excuse not to learn by yourself, haven’t you?
I was wandering in many directions, procrastinating and not finishing anything – except publishing my wife’s e-books on Amazon. But for a few days, all things seem to converge towards one point: becoming a “YouTubeur”. I made this mistake with purpose because I would like to express myself on YouTube, speaking in French, my native language.
So why write about that in an English blog?
Well, I commit myself to writing in English because it is my way of thanking all the people who freely put their knowledge at disposal on internet ; and it is mostly in english language. Furthermore, I try to improve my “english” skills.
For more than ten years I used to organize and facilitate team building events – mostly in Romania, in Romanian – and I think it is my turn now to explain on short movies how to facilitate such events. I would like to reach francophone people as it is easier for me to explain myself in front of a camera in my mother tongue, and also because there is a need to explain all this stuff: most of professional in this area try to complicate things, and I would like to make it simple.
So the idea is: “Team Building Facile”, and I will try to transform this idea into something real and, maybe, use it to reinvent myself and create a new job for me, here, or anywhere in the world… That would be my next dream!
As an important tool for my future activity as a “YouTubeur”, I decided – after carefully reviewing and trying many options – to use the free version of the “Lightworks” software, in order to edit my videos and I would like to share with you a great tutorial in order to insert a graphic (a “png” file) into your clip. Look at that:
I also managed to create a kind of brand throughout my social networks accounts and I will keep you posted.
Wish me good luck and see you soon on YouTube!
I have to leave now since I am cooking for my son 🙂
I am excited to announce that, after months of visiting and photographing awesome locations, going on trails, writing and editing, Cristina and I finally self-published an innovative, extensive and responsive tourist e-guide about Martinique.
So, if you do not know where to spend the next holidays, why not pay a visit for a few days to this beautiful Caribbean island? All its treasures are waiting for you! Continue reading We self-published an e-guide on Martinique!
As I was telling you in a first post, we left our new-bought-house in Bucharest almost untouched for one year: from time to time we went there in order to make some measurements and figure out what we wanted to do with our new property.
We wanted to move in because of the constant tensions with my parents-in-law, but regarding the state of the windows and insulation and the structure itself (it was built during the fifties) the house needed some major improvements. But what exactly did we want? How would the works cost? What was the local legislation? What were the steps to make? Continue reading Building our home in Bucharest #2
I am delighted to announce the digital publishing of the first ebook written by my wife Cristina. I am so proud of her and would like to use this opportunity in order to proclaim “ubi et orbi” all the admiration I feel for her since the day she came into my life and turned it upside down, for the best…
In the future, you may find all our writings on this blog’s “ebooks” page.
“Cathy Merlin: 1. Le monde des elfes” (French edition for the time being), a novel full of adventures, is the result of a collective work – like all our projects – as far as writing, digital editing and cover making are concerned.
I wish “good luck” to the book and hope that – maybe – the interest it will raise among potential readers will determine Cristina to write its sequel which already exists in her mind and imagination. If it does not happen, do not worry as we already have tons of projects… to write down!
I wish you all the best and thank you for reading,
Building your home – a house – is a big achievement in life: you have to struggle in order to push your organizational and financial boundaries. You find yourself entangled in legal problems you never thought about… It is a long story!
Anyway, as almost every story we started in our existence, the first move was an emotional one, a strong “emotion” that put everything “in motion”… Continue reading Building our home in Bucharest #1
While working at “Aventura Parc”, we had to hire students and train them in order to become teammates. Before that, we had to carefully read their resumes and interview them.
This interview was the first and most important test, as the candidates had to first find the adventure park 🙂 The very fact that they were present was the proof that they took the time to find us on internet and the roadmap there. After that, it was also the proof that they were interested in the job. Continue reading why to “Google Sketchup” ideas…
The year 2007 was really important to us because it was truly the first year (or year #1) of our activity (2006 being the “zero” year because it was the year of the building of the park and we did not succeed in attracting many customers to Lucianca 😦 ), the year of almost all of our “premieres”: first offer requests for the building of adventure parks, first wave of teammates and employees, first big events with many children or adults in the same time. And we managed during this year to create a structured and organized offer, after many trials and errors, many advices from our customers 😀 Continue reading 2007 – the year of the “premieres” @Aventura Parc
At last, after months and months of sustained efforts, we made our grand opening at “Aventura Parc” on 2006, July 14th.
It was the French national day, but this coincidence did not give us any luck as only one journalist used the coach we hired in order to transport all our guests to the forest. The remaining of the invited people arrived by car. Continue reading 2006 – the adventure park inauguration
2006, the « zero year » for Aventura Parc: we had to build everything in order to transform the « native forest » into a welcoming place with a minimum of facilities for our guests AND implement the concept of « adventure park » for the first time in Romania! Continue reading 2006 – building the adventure park
This winter was the first we met the crude reality of wood theft, a reality which is sadly at an undustrial scale in Romania. Actually we began the year this way, on a cold 2006 january morning, by stating that several trees had been cut : almost a quarter of all the forest we bought a few months before… You will see on the photos below that there were marked trails for the thieves’ carts… Continue reading 2006 – Wake up to reality…
The “history”, or rather the Aventura Parc story in Romania begins in 2005 when we were already looking for a forest for almost two years (sporadic at first, because we had to develop another company and build our house, and after a while systematically) where to build the first nature adventure park in Romania .
In villages around Bucharest we were greeted with astonishment, indifference, sometimes even with a slight aggression: what do the French guys want with their amusement park with cables, ropes and other crazy things? Our project was complete “extra terrestrial” in those days …
Fortunately sometime in early May 2005 we met in Butimanu an agricultural agent that has proven cooperative and open to our wacky idea. He told us about a hectare of forest at the edge of the village Lucianca (completely unknown then! ). We went to visit … As you’ll see below there was nothing special in this forest (…)
(…) Nevertheless in contrast to the dozens of parcels visited before it encompassed most of the conditions sine qua non that were required for us to buy something like this: national road access, proximity to an electric pole (we thought naively that it will be easy to put there a power transformer to the park but you will have to see what Electrica (the electricity company) did to us in 2006 ), relatively large trees for the area …
Like many in life, we made a decision quickly (about two days) and made the papers, paid the money, and took possession of Lucianca forest.
Quickly followed the establishement of the company, the beginning of the brand deposit procedure at the OSIM (another nest of “competent” people) and we only had to build the park… Indeed?
So much for 2005, thank you for reading 🙂 !
